Sidus Data CEO receives AA County Business Leader of the Year Award

Annapolis, MD (September, 2008) – The Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce has announced Sidus President and CEO, Mark Powell, as the 2008 Business Leader of the Year.

The annual award is given to the individual who consistently demonstrates the exceptional qualities needed to manage a successful business. Criteria for the award include: "an ethical business practice, a record of outstanding corporate citizenship, a proven record of business accomplishments and a commitment to the highest standards of management that have led to their organization being distinguished as among the very best."

Over 300 business owners and non profit officials were present to honor Powell whose passion for growing businesses and commitment to corporate philanthropy have made him what he is today. Since 1999, his company the Sidus Data, has donated over $200,000 in pro bono work and monetary donations to more than 20 local organizations. “I strongly believe it’s my civic duty to give back to the community that has provided me with so many great opportunities,” said Powell, who was recently chosen by The Gazette of Politics and Business as one of "Maryland's 25 CEO's You Need to Know.”
