10 year Flashback!

Sidus celebrating its first 10 years has really got me thinking about the rapid progression of the internet and computing power over the past decade. A couple of then vs. now scenarios:

Then: 2000
Sidus started off with 4 racks of servers (128 Servers total). If we combine the power of these systems it would look like this:

Total combined processor power: 40GHz
Total combined RAM: 33GB RAM
Total combined hard drive Storage:  2500GB

Now: 2010

Total combined processor power: 3000GHz
Total combined RAM: 3200GB RAM
Total combined hard drive Storage:  100000GB

Four Sidus racks now have the capacity to serve 200 physical machines or 1500 VMware Virtualized Machines in the Sidus Cloud Hosting environment.

Thinking about this really blew me away. This means in 10 years (or even more impressively, three typical technology refresh cycles) we have seen a 7500% increase in processing power, a 9696% increase in RAM Capacity, and 4000% increase in storage space without altering the datacenter footprint!

I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings!
